The festive spirit is in full swing at the College, celebrated through a series of much-loved traditions and joyful events.

The annual showstopping Christmas Concert in the Aberdeen Music Hall was once again a fantastic success with performances from Primary 2 through to S6, either on stage or via video link.

The Primary 7 Enterprise Fair was a huge success. Pupils worked incredibly hard to create a magical festive experience for their younger peers. They designed and sold handmade goods, set up their own crafted games, and organised a stall of pre-loved items, all run by the pupils themselves. This charity initiative saw funds raised being split between Kayleigh’s Wee Stars and the Gathimba Edwards Foundation.

On Tuesday 16th December, our pupils enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day, filled with festive spirit and community kindness. For a £1 donation, in support of our charity partner Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, pupils wore their favourite festive jumpers over their school uniform, bringing colour, glitter, and plenty of smiles.

Carols in the Quad was once again a heartwarming evening where pupils, staff, and families gathered around the festive lights in front of the historic Auld Hoose. Despite the winter chill, the warmth of community spirit filled the air as everyone joined in song, spreading joy and festive cheer across the playground.

The Junior School was full of sparkle and excitement as Primary 1-7 pupils arrived dressed to impress for their class Christmas parties! Throughout the day, each class enjoyed party games and dancing, with laughter and energy filling the hallways. In the afternoon, the children tucked into delicious party food provided by our caterers, Inspire, sharing the treat together in their classrooms. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day of festive fun.

Primary 4-5 pupils had a cosy evening watching Home Alone 2: Lost in New York! Everyone arrived in their PJs, bringing teddies, slippers, dressing gowns, and all the snuggly extras. Primary 7 and Senior School House Captains helped their younger peers throughout the evening. Snacks were enjoyed by all, and we were blown away by the generosity of our families who donated goods for Instant Neighbour

However, that was not the only festive movie being watched. Later in the week, Primary 3 took to the Junior School Lecture Theatre to watch The Grinch.

Nursery pupils visited North East Scotland College’s Planetarium! The children watched in awe as they experienced Santa flying across the full dome cinema.

Yesterday evening, our Nine Lessons and Carols service took place in the MacRobert Hall, offering a truly wonderful evening of music and reflection. Rev. Zak Robb (Class of 2007) welcomed pupils, staff, and former pupils who shared readings including Naomi S (S3), Derek Rettie (Class of 1988), Felicity S (P5), Sarah Montgomery (Class of 2017), Stephen J Morrice (Class of 1976), Georgie Armstrong (Class of 2018), Tito Daramola (Class of 2021), Ethan C (S5), Charles Taylor (Class of 1993), Elizabeth Templeton (Class of 1995), and Mr Macpherson. Musical performances from the Chamber Choir, Senior Choir, Advanced Higher Music Class, Brass Ensemble, Chamber Group, and Erin S (S5) conducted by Mr Pearson, Mrs Hanna and Mr Boyd and Organist: Allan Bicket.

Our Junior School pupils began the morning with a festive service in the Kirk of St Nicholas, where, led by Rev. D. Eddie, the Junior School community sang hymns and some of our Primary 7 pupils shared readings. Later in the day, S2-S6 visited the Kirk for their final event of the season, while S1 attended the Craig Centre for Performing Arts. Meanwhile, MacRobert Hall was alive with festive cheer for the annual Junior Sing-Along. P1-P7 sang along to all the classics, from Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas to Wham!’s Last Christmas, with pupils and staff joining in.

As we draw the term to a close, our Head of College shares a community message featuring Infant Glee.
