In a heartwarming gesture of appreciation, former pupils Henry and Jasmine, both Class of '23, each nominated Mr Fogiel and Mr Duncan for a prestigious Trinity College Inspirational Teacher Award.

Recognising the impact teachers can have on supporting pupils with their future pathways, the mathematics and languages teachers were invited to a special dinner at Trinity College, alongside Henry and Jasmine, where they were formally recognised for their outstanding contributions.

Mr Fogiel, Head of Mathematics, commented: “Working with Henry during his 6 years at RGC was a truly unique experience. At times, Henry’s work was so far removed from the normal curriculum, it was difficult to know who was the learner and who was the teacher. I am honoured and humbled in receiving this award, and am very grateful to Henry for the gesture.”

Mr Duncan, Teacher of Languages, said: “I am deeply touched to have received this award and thank Jasmine for this most unexpectedly kind gesture. I must admit that she made my job as her teacher an incredibly easy one. When she joined RGC, I remember her vividly sitting at the back of my S1 French class and demonstrating an outstanding linguistic ability. It has been a privilege to have played a part in nurturing her talent for French and watching Jasmine’s passion for languages grow over the years and I am so proud of her and her achievements.”

Mrs Smith, Head of Senior School, highlighted: “I am delighted for Mr Duncan and Mr Fogiel who have played a pivotal role in shaping the post-school pathways of Jasmine and Henry. The nominations serve as a testament to the lasting impression exceptional educators can leave on their pupils and the profound ripple effects of their guidance and mentorship. I commend Jasmine and Henry for their thoughtfulness in seeking to recognise the impact their teachers have had.”
