In May this year, S3 French pupils had the pleasure of hosting students from Collège Romain Rolland for the second leg of the annual French exchange.

During their stay in Aberdeen, the French students participated in a diverse range of activities with their partners. They enjoyed the unique experience of paddleboarding and explored local landmarks through various sightseeing activities. To help gain insight into the Scottish curriculum, the students shadowed some classes, experiencing first-hand what school life is like for their Scottish peers.

The exchange culminated in a lively ceilidh held on their final evening, where guests were warmly welcomed by the RGC Ceilidh Band and a traditional piper.

S3 pupil Sara shared: “Over the week with our exchange partners, we became closer over time despite the language barrier. The French exchange was a great opportunity for developing our French language skills, interacting with more people, and making amazing, lasting memories and new friends. For all of these reasons, we would absolutely recommend it to anyone who takes French, as participating in the French exchange has definitely been one of the highlights of S3!”
