Former pupils across the world are paving the way to support young people in the North East of Scotland. Showing a strong sense of pride in the College’s philanthropic roots and  long-standing commitment to fostering ambition, innovation, and creativity, Robert Gordon’s alumni - Gordonians - are enabling future generations to access a high quality education, transforming their lives through access to a global talent network and the Gordon’s Forever bursary programme.

The remarkable support from global alumni is a unique feature of Robert Gordon’s College. The generosity of former pupils living and working overseas underscores the lasting strength of the College’s global community. Their support helps ensure that the values and philanthropic ethos of Robert Gordon’s College empower future generations to aim high, be successful and continue the philanthropic tradition of giving back.

The Gordon’s Forever Bursary Programme provides flexibility in giving back. Many former pupils support the business programme via a financial crowdfunding model which enables alumni to work together in regions across the world so they can provide assistance at a level of their choice. This model underpins the strong sense of community that exists beyond school and the impact of their education.

In the UK, crowdfunding models exist with groups of alumni living and working in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London, and recently Gordonians across the Atlantic are working together to establish the first ever Americas Gordonian Bursary by directly contributing or serving as ambassadors to demonstrate what a Robert Gordon’s education can achieve. The remarkable achievements of our alumni in the Americas region recognise the ambition instilled in Gordon’s pupils as they follow their passions and are excelling in their fields.

Niall MacKenzie, Senior Team Lead and Interim Head of Industry, Healthcare, and Pharmaceuticals at Google in New York City recently provided a unique opportunity for senior pupils to visit Google’s cutting-edge office in Manhattan. The visit provided a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of the world’s most innovative companies, inspiring students to dream big and aim high. Niall’s dedication to mentorship and his efforts to connect Gordonians, both past and present, highlight the lasting bonds forged at Robert Gordon’s College.

The flexibility of supporting the Americas Gordonian bursary model enables former pupils to crowdfund together with an affordable amount which can be contributed as a one-off gift, or as a monthly or annual gift for up to six years. The College’s US Development Committee is leading the way in raising awareness for  the Americas Bursary Fund and together with the College aim to raise $100,000 to complete the fund target.
