In the 2025 examination results, Aamna achieved the highest marks in Scotland for Higher Biology. She celebrated this incredible achievement at the 25th annual Science and the Parliament event held at Dynamic Earth Edinburgh.

Aamna travelled with Mrs Willetts to receive her official award. The event recognised outstanding achievement in all qualification levels across biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering science. The occasion also provided Aamna with the opportunity to engage with prominent scientific societies, professional bodies, and universities. Presented by the Royal Society of Biology’s new CEO Dr Doug Brown, Aamna’s award represents the culmination of a year of hard work.

Aamna shared: “The higher biology award was definitely a surprise to receive, but one that my family and I are incredibly excited about. Especially since moving from abroad last year, I’m really glad to see all my hard work pay off. I am so proud of myself and grateful for all the support I’ve received from my family, teachers and friends. I really enjoy the sciences and therefore I am really excited to gain more knowledge by studying Medicine at university.”

Mrs Willetts, her Biology teacher, said: “Teaching Aamna alongside Miss MacGregor was truly a pleasure. Aamna works hard, is a dedicated student and has a genuine curiosity for Biology and the life sciences. Her Advanced Higher project this year also demonstrates her ability to work flexibly, independently and with resilience. The award for the top mark is rightly deserved and I was proud to attend and see her receive her award. I wish her all the best with her applications for Medicine.”

Mr Martin, Principal Teacher of Biology, added: “Aamna’s achievement is nothing short of exceptional, especially considering well over 7000 pupils sit this exam across Scotland. I’m delighted to see her talent recognised at a national level. My congratulations go to Aamna, and to her teachers for their support and encouragement.”
