We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of two S6 pupils who each scored 100% in the 2025 Higher Mathematics exam.

Grace and Tanish received full marks in Higher Mathematics and their success is a testament to the hard work, perseverance and commitment they have shown throughout their studies, as well as their enthusiasm for the subject.

Mr Macpherson presented their official certificates during an event in the Governors’ room. Grace said: “It was a really lovely surprise on Results Day for my family and I when we realised I had scored full marks! I was delighted to see that my months of hard work finally paid off. It showed me that consistency and effort really does bring real results. I will always be grateful to my teachers, friends, and family who supported me to achieve my very best, and I know in the future, no matter what I do, I will keep up my love for maths!”

Tanish shared: “Getting 100% on my favourite Higher was certainly something to cherish. I think there’s a certain element of luck to getting full marks in any exam but seeing my efforts pay off was an extremely satisfying way to top off Results Day. I’ve always enjoyed my math lessons and I am incredibly thankful for the persistent enthusiasm and encouragement from all my teachers and classmates. The energy and passion in the maths department is truly infectious and I am indebted to them for inspiring my continued growth and love for the subject.”

Mr Prentice, Teacher of Mathematics, commented: “By scoring 100% in both the Higher Mathematics Prelim and Final Exam, Tanish has demonstrated a real depth of understanding so as not to get caught out by any of the problem-solving twists. However, more than that he has shown an incredible attention to detail, his willingness to work at improving himself and a joy in solving problems that was fabulous to work with. Tanish was a pleasure to teach throughout, conducting himself with good humour and humility at all times and I wish him well for the next steps in his academic journey.”

Ms McCulloch, Teacher of Mathematics, added: “It was a pleasure to teach Grace during S5. Achieving full marks in the Higher Mathematics examination is a rare accomplishment and her exceptional result reflects not only her natural aptitude for Mathematics, but also her dedication, incredible hard work and genuine enthusiasm for the subject. I wish her all the best for her studies in university and beyond.”

In August 2025, Robert Gordon’s College celebrated outstanding success in SQA Mathematics, with strong attainment across all year groups. In S4, 97.6% achieved A-B grades at National 5, while S5 Higher results saw 84.3% of pupils attain A-B grades. At S6, performance remained equally impressive, with 85% achieving A grades in Advanced Higher Mathematics of Mechanics, and 86.4% attaining A-B grades in Advanced Higher Mathematics. These results reflect the hard work and commitment of pupils, as well as the dedication of staff, who provide excellent teaching and offer additional support beyond the timetable through initiatives such as Maths Club and Watt Next. Maths Club gives pupils from all year groups a place to go to complete homework or prepare for assessments with the support of members of the Mathematics Department. Watt Next, run by Mrs Pathakji, is designed for advanced mathematicians who are looking to engage with super-curricular learning and deepen their understanding of the subject.
