At the end of last term, our Higher Mandarin class participated in a seminar and Chinese calligraphy workshop at the University of Aberdeen.

During the seminar with the Confucius Institute, university students shared their Mandarin learning experiences and how it can benefit future careers. Our S5 pupils enjoyed hearing more about learning techniques along with the university and careers aspects of studying a language. They then had the opportunity to practise Chinese calligraphy with the Confucius Institute teachers.

Our pupils also visited a local Chinese restaurant for lunch where they communicated in Mandarin. This was a fantastic opportunity to bring their classroom learning into a real life situation.

Mandarin pupils take learning beyond the classroom
