This week we welcome Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) students Alexandra Coston, Sadhana Lolla and Aqil Pasha to Robert Gordon’s College to teach RGC pupils from P6 to S6 using their skills in artificial intelligence, business studies, computer science, design and entrepreneurship. During their time at RGC, the students will also be supporting the RGC Online service which prepares pupils across the country for careers in the tech industry.

Their arrival from Boston marks the eighth year of the College’s partnership with MIT providing benefits across the Robert Gordon’s community to pupils, staff and families who are learning from the students about their expertise and research at MIT.

Alexandra is a second-year student at MIT studying Architecture. She has studied visual communications and design techniques and brings with her experience in digital fabrication, creating curriculum, and facilitating design workshops at the MIT Museum’s Maker Hub. Alexandra has worked with students of all ages and enjoys helping them turn project ideas into physical products.

Sadhana is a fourth-year undergraduate at MIT studying computer science and mathematics. Her research focused on artificial intelligence for robotics, has spanned projects with Google, Microsoft, labs at MIT, and more. Sadhana is also an instructor for MIT’s introduction to Deep Learning, one of the largest open courses on AI in the world. Her lectures and research talks have reached tens of thousands of people.

Aqil is an MBA student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has experience in product management, venture capital and early stage startup strategy. His recent focus has been in venture capital, where he has been forming investment theses around artificial intelligence and examining its impact on the rapidly evolving startup ecosystem.

This year brings the opportunity for the whole of the RGC community to benefit from the MIT and RGC partnership with community talks open to pupils, current parents, former pupils and staff to attend.

Laura Presslie, Director of Development Marketing and Admissions, shared: “We are honoured to see our partnership with MIT grow as we continue to bring world class expertise to our classrooms to inspire and shape future career paths for our pupils. The expertise that Aqil, Sadhana and Alexandra bring to RGC classrooms is inspiring for our pupils and we are delighted that they have selected Aberdeen as their home for the month of January. For many of our pupils, the Global Teaching Lab programme will shape future career paths and heighten ambition.”
