We are delighted to announce that Mr Sumner has been appointed as the new Committee Chairman of the Scottish Schools CCF Pipes and Drums.

In addition to his role as our Contingent Commander of the Robert Gordon’s College Combined Cadet Force, Mr Sumner formally accepted this position and expressed both pride and gratitude as he took over the reins from Lt. Col. C. A. Stewart MBE, who has dedicated over three decades of service to the Committee.

Mr Sumner shared: “I am both proud and delighted to take on the role of Committee Chairman for the Scottish Schools CCF Pipes and Drums. It is an incredible honour to follow in the footsteps of Craig, whose dedication over the past three decades has left a lasting legacy. I look forward to continuing this important work, supporting young pipers and drummers across Scotland, and helping to nurture their musical talents and passion for our cultural and musical heritage.”

Mr Buchanan, Senior School Deputy Head, shared: “We are all thrilled to see Mr Sumner step into this vital role. His leadership and passion for the Pipes and Drums will undoubtedly inspire our young musicians and strengthen the legacy of this esteemed committee. A well deserved appointment, and a point of personal and collective pride for Mr Sumner and the RGC community. We know that this will only strengthen his ability to lead, develop and nurture our own cadets, pipers and drummers with aplomb at RGC.”

The Scottish Schools CCF Pipes and Drums Trust aims to advance the arts, heritage, culture and community development by encouraging young people in Scotland to take up the chanter, pipes and drums and by supporting the development of school pipe bands.
