Demonstrating that it’s never too late to challenge yourself and develop new skills, Ms Johnstone, Junior School Teacher, has been an inspiring example to her cadets by completing the Royal Air Force (RAF) Air Cadets Officer Training Course.
Pilot Officer Johnstone travelled to RAF College Cranwell in Lincolnshire for a residential week, honing her instructional abilities and highlighting the importance of collaboration and effective communication. As part of the graduation ceremony, Ms Johnstone proudly accepted her Kings Commission from Air Commodore Allen Lewis.
Ms Johnstone shared: “I am delighted to be able to share what I have achieved with the encouragement and support from colleagues. I am proud to be part of the RGC Combined Cadet Force and would encourage young people to grasp every opportunity to challenge themselves this year. Embrace the chance to be out of your comfort zone! The Officer training reflected the core values of the RAF: Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.
“I particularly enjoyed working on Methods of Instruction where problem solving and leadership are combined to ensure excellence in group work. The traditions of Cranwell, where King Charles also did his Officer training remain strong and it was a privilege to be there. The sky is truly the limit when you are in the RAF!”
