New members of the Mountain Biking Club (MTB) enjoyed their first session learning techniques, practising skills and riding bikes at Countesswells Forest on Sunday 29th September.

The coaches, Mr McEwan and Mr Tayler, carried out basic bike and kit safety checks, bike skill checks (braking, gear changing, attack position and cone of movement) before moving on to some more advanced bike skills such as front wheel lifts and wheelies.

Mr McEwan said: “Although this is a fun extra curricular club the pupils also have the opportunity to achieve nationally recognised certificates through assessment against the Go MTB Award criteria."

Mr Tayler added: “The new pupils are looking forward to joining their MTB peers next month when they will embark on some more challenging forest trails at Drumtochty, Fochabers and Kirkhill.”
