Pupils studying Environmental Science enjoyed a field trip investigating Aberdeen City’s renewable energy strategies.

Mr Paul comments: "We visited the offshore wind farm in Aberdeen Bay and the ACE hydro screw in Bridge of Don. These case studies help to reinforce course material as well as making pupils aware of potential career paths.

"The Donside Hydro is an interesting place to visit and learn about how the project aligns with local and national government policy on energy, climate change and sustainable communities. In addition to this the visit supports the Energy Unit of the National 5 Environmental Science Course."

The multi-award winning Community Benefit Society was set up in 2015 by Donside Community Association (DCA) to build, own and operate the Donside Hydro Scheme on behalf of the community and inline with the Donside Village founder's ethos of creating a sustainable community.
