Robert Gordon’s College has today announced an ambitious three-year fundraising strategy to strengthen and extend the culture of philanthropy across the RGC community and beyond. The new strategy will inspire community support to drive investment in transformative projects for the benefit of current and future generations.

Kevin Reynard, Chair of Board of Governors, said: “We have embarked on a strategy that represents a pivotal moment for the future of Robert Gordon’s College. By raising funds for bursaries and investing in sports facilities, we are enriching the educational experience while reaffirming our commitment to expanding access and promoting excellence. The Board is deeply inspired by this strategy, and we look forward to working closely with our community to achieve these vital goals.”

With a bold target to raise £5 million by 2028, the strategy is built around three strategic pillars:

  • Access to Bursaries – Expanding our means-tested bursary provision for talented young people across the North East of Scotland.

  • Sporting Excellence – Investing in capital projects and upgraded sports facilities to inspire achievement, promote wellbeing, and establish Robert Gordon’s College as a centre of sporting distinction.

  • Community and Alumni Engagement – Maximising opportunities across the global Robert Gordon’s community to deepen engagement and strengthen support for the College’s philanthropic impact.

The campaign sets two ambitious financial targets:

  • £2 million to expand bursary provision, ensuring vital financial support is available for talented pupils to attend Robert Gordon College.

  • £3 million to transform sports facilities, fostering wellbeing and driving excellence in physical education and sport.

Over the next three years, the College will work closely with a range of supporters - including the RGC Parents’ Association and the Gordonian Association - to advance this vision, strengthen connections across the Robert Gordon’s community, and foster a shared sense of purpose and pride.

Robin Macpherson, Head of College, commented: “I am immensely proud of Robert Gordon’s College’s commitment to nurturing talent and ambition, and of the strong dedication to provide transformational bursaries that drive social mobility for children who come from a wide range of backgrounds. This visionary strategy reflects the philanthropic mission of our founder, Robert Gordon, and ensures we continue providing exceptional opportunities for our pupils, while enhancing facilities that support their wellbeing and achievements. We are deeply grateful to our community for their continued belief in this mission, and we are excited to embark on this journey together to make a lasting difference.”

Laura Presslie, Director of Advancement, concluded: “Our strategy builds on a decade of successful fundraising and reinforces our commitment to innovation, access, and opportunity, ensuring that every gift helps shape brighter futures. At the heart of our mission lies a deep belief in the power of community and the transformative impact of giving. With the continued support of our global community, we aim to create meaningful change that will enrich lives today and for generations ahead."
