Our Primary 2 pupils enjoyed an exciting introduction to engineering during their visit to Oceaneering Headquarters in Aberdeen.
As part of their Social Studies topics on Aberdeen Oil and Gas industry and transport, the visit gave the children a fascinating insight into the world of offshore engineering and technology, helping them to connect their classroom learning with real-life careers and industries.
The pupils participated in a range of breakout sessions, including 3D photogrammetry scanning, exploring underwater technology using Oceaneering’s ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) simulators, playing a game of ‘Guess the Inspection X-Rays’, and practising surveying grids and measuring spaces.
Miss Jamieson, Principal Teacher in Junior School shared: “Primary 2 were fascinated to find out all about how Oceaneering is involved with transport industries. They learnt some amazing facts about vehicles, speed and space travel. With pupils saying ‘this has been the best trip ever’ and ‘I want to work at Oceaneering’ it is clear that they have had a great day. A big thank you to Oceaneering for hosting and kindly sponsoring our fantastic trip.”
The visit was an inspiring and memorable experience for our Primary 2 pupils. By engaging with real-world technology and meeting professionals in the field, they gained a deeper understanding of how engineering impacts everyday life. We are incredibly grateful to Oceaneering for hosting such an informative and enjoyable day.
