Our Primary 2 pupils were treated to a fantastic visit as James (S6), who started his flying experience as part of the school CCF/RAF, kindly delivered an engaging presentation all about gliding and his journey to gaining his gliding licence.

As part of their Social Studies topic on Transport, the session was perfectly pitched for their age and stage. Now working in our After School Club, James’s familiar presence made the experience even more exciting for the children, who were thrilled to learn from someone they know so well.

Miss Jamieson, Teacher of Primary 2, said: "We are incredibly grateful to James for giving up his time and for the effort he put into preparing such an inspiring presentation. As one of James's former teachers, it was a real pleasure to see our current pupils so engaged and inspired by his achievements. Moments like this truly highlight the strength of our 3-18 school community, where shared learning experiences like these can flourish."

James added: "I really enjoyed sharing a hobby I have enjoyed so much with such an enthusiastic group. The pupils' curiosity, excitement and the brilliant questions they asked made the visit really rewarding and It was great to see how engaged the pupils were, especially when we talked about how aircraft stay in the air and what it feels like to fly. I hope they came away with a better understanding of how gliders work, and maybe even a new interest in aviation."

The visit was an excellent example of the benefits of a 3-18 school community, providing opportunities for pupils of all ages to share knowledge, experiences, and inspiration.
