Throughout the end of the Summer Term, our Primary 3 pupils embraced their enterprise project with enthusiasm, excitement, and creativity.
Their enterprise journey began with inspiring visits from local entrepreneurs, EJ and Suzy (Class of 2004) from Aberdeen Art Box, Calum Wright (Class of 2010) from Big Manny’s Pizza, Gael Cordiner from Flotation Energy and Elements Restaurant, and Angus Willis (Class of 2007) from Forest Farm. Each visitor shared their story and encouraged the children to think ambitiously about their own enterprise ideas.
Following thoughtful class discussions, Primary 3 voted to support The Archie Foundation through their fundraising efforts. The children carefully selected products to create and sell to their families, including their hugely popular self-portrait tea towels. Through market research, they priced each item with the clear goal of making a profit for charity while ensuring affordability for families.
The P3 Enterprise Sale was a fantastic success, run entirely by the pupils themselves. The photo booth was a particular highlight, enjoyed by many visiting parents, and the children performed their specially chosen song, ‘Make a Difference’, with such confidence that they were later invited to sing at the S4 Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final.
To conclude the project, the year group visited Forest Farm, where Angus Willis shared further insights into running a business and introduced everyone to the cows. The pupils learned valuable lessons about starting small, ensuring quality, and working hard to grow a sustainable business.
Primary 3 were delighted to welcome Nathan Reid, Regional Fundraising Officer at The Archie Foundation, who answered their thoughtful questions and gratefully accepted their fantastic donation of £1,277.58.
