The campus was full of excitement, anticipation and laughter last week as our soon-to-be S1 pupils participated in activities as part of their transition programme to our Senior School.

The pupils spent the morning meeting their guidance and form teachers and attending taster lessons, before heading off to Countesswells Sports Field to compete in house team building activities.

Mrs Watson, Deputy Head for S1 and S2 shared: “The S1 Transition process which began with pupils and parents this month is a key part of welcoming families to the College and ensuring a positive start to the senior years. Pupils have the opportunity to meet all key staff and to make new friendships ready for August.

“A variety of activities over the first two days of the new school year, including orienteering, team building, House activities and a digital induction ensure that pupils can make a smooth start when the timetable begins. Further transition activities such as a Settling in evening for parents and an exciting residential team building for pupils take place in October.’’

Mrs Wood, Principal Teacher of Transition commented: “Last week our parents were invited in to meet with their Guidance Teachers who will see them through the Senior School and this week it was the turn of our pupils. There was an excited buzz as we met pupils in the morning and it was great to see everyone chatting and introducing themselves.

“Pupils met with their Guidance and Form teachers before embarking on a series of subject taster lessons ranging from Latin and Languages to Science and RMPS. After a trip to our Dining Hall for lunch they headed off to Countesswells to experience team building activities. It has been lovely to meet and chat to so many of our new pupils and to welcome them into the Senior School this week.”

Our S1 programme allows the children to familiarise themselves with the new academic structure, new surroundings with the help of our prefects and allows them to integrate with their peers in their year group and across the wider school community.

There is still time to apply for August 2023 entry. Discover what Robert Gordon’s College has to offer your child at www.rgc.aberdeen.sch.uk/beginyourjourney.
