The Pipe Band from across the College (P5-S6) have been participating in some exciting activities both in and out of school.

On 11 March 2022, members of the Pipe Band and Highland Dancers had a fantastic time performing at the Chester Hotel as part of the Archie Foundation's Burns Night Supper. The Archie Foundation provides healthcare and bereavement support for children and their families across Grampian and we are incredibly proud to have been asked to perform at their charity event which raised an outstanding £25,000.

More recently, pupils have been working hard on their video submissions for The Pipe Band Freestyle Video Competition 2022.

Open to both pipers and drummers across all year groups, competitors were urged to think creatively about the production and musical content of their submission. Pipes or practice chanters, drums and pads had to be the main feature of the performance, however the use of additional instrumentation, multiple pipe parts, video editing etc were all permitted.

Competition results:

  • Senior Piping: Murray Barclay, Battle of Cromdale

  • Junior Piping: Aled Lynn, Flower of Scotland

  • Snare Drumming: Leo Main

  • Tenor Drumming: Innes De Kock

Mr Sumner, Piping Instructor said: "Thanks go to all pipers and drummers who submitted audios and videos for this year's Pipe Band Freestyle Competition.

"We really enjoyed watching and listening to all the entries and have been so impressed with the musical variety and thought that has gone into the videos and hope they had just as much fun taking part. Although this was a competition, the emphasis should always be on enjoying music both listening and performing."
