Combined Cadet Force Drum Majors’ Cadre
The Drum Majors’ Cadre took place at the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Dancing (ASBMHD) earlier this month under tuition provided by the Senior Drum Major (British Army).
We are delighted to announce that Leo (S6) will represent Robert Gordon’s College by leading out the massed Pipes and Drums at the Beating Retreats during the summer term.
Open to all CCF Schools in Scotland, the aim of the cadre is to coordinate drill, parade discipline and select the Senior Drum Major for the CCF Beating Retreat on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade and in the grounds of Holyroodhouse in May.
North of Scotland Quartet Competition
Pipers travelled to Gordons’ School in Huntly to take part in the North of Scotland Quartet Competition. Three very accomplished and professional performances resulted in a 1st place for the RGC A Quartet who won the Yule for Glass Trophy.
Scottish Golf Tourism Awards
The Pipe Band and Highland Dancers performed at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards at the P&J Live Arena. Our talented pipers, drummers, and dancers entertained over 500 guests at the prestigious national event, part of a week-long celebration of golf tourism in Scotland. The awards recognise outstanding achievements in the industry, honouring the finest courses, hotels, and experiences that have helped cement Scotland’s reputation as a world-leading golf destination.
International Family Therapy Association Conference
Mr Sumner and members of the Highland Dance Team performed a pipe and dance display at the P&J Live Arena. This conference brought members of the International Family Therapy Association to Aberdeen to share best practice from around the world.
Highland Dancers perform at Trinity Hall
Two of our senior Highland Dancers performed at Trinity Hall on 16 March during an event raising awareness of the Julie Development Initiative. Founded by Princess Mayolein MacDonald in memory of the late wife of King Temple MacDonald Jamala II, the Monarch of the Odual Kingdom, the initiative supports local educational projects. The programme is backed by the Aberdeen African Royal Mission, and the event was attended by Patron Graham Guyan DL, the Lord Provost, the Lord Dean of Guild, and the Deacon Convenor of the Seven Incorporated Trades.
