Following the many achievements from the art department, the College is delighted to share that Renee in P4 received a gold medal for her piece entered into the 8th Embrace China Chinese Youth Painting and Calligraphy Competition.

Entering her colourful illustration of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Renee’s art piece joined 2,300 submissions from other artists from 18 countries and five continents. 270 pieces were selected for the finals awarding five gold, 20 silver and 50 bronze medals along with 195 outstanding awards.

The award-winning works reflect the positive spiritual outlook of youths, with most of the pieces based on Chinese elements, expressing their impressions and feelings about their ancestral country and hometown.⠀

Renee said: “For this piece I used Sharpies, art markers and watercolour. I used a lot of colours to show the World coming together to celebrate sports.”⠀

Mrs Blue, Teacher of Art and Design shared: "Renee is a super pupil who excels at art, showing such enjoyment and motivation to push herself in a creative process.  She is a great inspiration to others in using her art to help her through these challenging times, and she has worked exceptionally well at home to produce high quality work, especially given her age and stage of school.

These wider global competitions are so important to affirm that everyone has a chance of recognition of their particular talents and hard work. Well done, Renee!"
