Staff and pupils have collaborated to share a special recording of a Christmas Carol performed by members of the Senior Choir to mark the festive period.

With music composed by Mr Pearson and lyrics by Henry J (S5), ‘When the stars break forth the sky’, the song tells a story of hope.

Henry J (S5) commented: “Christmas is about the return of the light in more ways than one - being symbolic in the events of the Nativity, signifying the longer days beginning to draw in, and bringing hope for the coming year. I found that writing about hope was both fitting for the end of the past year, and complimented the tone of Mr Pearson’s beautiful music, which was a joy to write for.”

Mr Pearson, Deputy Head of Music shared: “I have worked with Henry many times in recent years and I thought it would be nice for us to collaborate on something creative. I had the idea of writing a Christmas Carol where I would compose the music and Henry the lyrics and he was excited at the prospect.

“Henry has done a fantastic job and the choir have thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and performing the Carol. Singing something that was written for the College makes the whole experience that little bit more special.”

Senior Choir members Anna F, Annie W, Cara S, Freya M, Isabella G, Josie B, Josie L, Mikey N, Saif M and William S (all S6) gathered to sing the first verse of the chorus which can be viewed below.
