Our RGC Senior Ski Racing Team enjoyed a spectacular weekend of competition, claiming two national titles at the British Schools Dry Slope Championships and the UK Schools Outdoor Championships, held on Saturday and Sunday in Swadlincote, England.
The team, consisting of Blair (S6), Thomas (S4), Maxwell (S3), and Ruaridh (S5), delivered exceptional performances both days. Their skill, determination, and composure under pressure earned them the title of British Schools Dry Slope Champions 2025, the most prestigious event in the ski racing calendar for all British schools.
Within the last week, our ski racers have achieved a remarkable hat-trick of successes, securing British, UK and Scottish titles, adding to an extraordinary year for RGC skiing, including British Indoor Champions (July 2025), Scottish Dry Slope Champions (October 2025), and Scottish Dual Slalom Champions (November 2025).
Blair, Ski Captain, said: “Every slope, every school title - this team delivered! I am honoured to have been the Ski Race Captain over the last 3 years. This year is particularly special as it is my final year at RGC.”
Our Ski Club Leaders reflected on the team’s remarkable successes over the weekend.
Mrs MacLeod, Deputy Head of Junior School, shared: “As the winners of the Scottish Dry Slope Championships (the qualifier for the British finals) the boys were determined to showcase their exceptional skills, determination and team spirit and bring the title back to Scotland. Securing two national titles in a single weekend, while competing against other leading ski teams across the UK, including Reeds, Harrow, St David’s and George Watson’s is a remarkable achievement and a true testament to their technique, dedication and hard work in training.”
Mrs Melville, PE and Sport Teacher, added: “Congratulations to our Senior Ski Racing Team on an outstanding array of performances. Their achievements highlight both their individual talent and the strength of the RGC Ski Racing Club, which trains pupils weekly at Garthdee for national indoor, dry slope, and snow competitions. The College has a proud tradition of producing talented skiers with pupils regularly selected for the Scottish Alpine Ski Team who compete across Europe each winter.”
