After an enforced pause since December 2019, RGC Music was finally able to return to a full-scale live performance in the Summer Concert last night. With the MacRobert Hall full, it was a joy to finally be able to perform a varied programme of music in person.

Musical ensembles performing throughout the evening were:

  • Intermediate Concert Band
  • Senior Concert Band
  • Senior String Orchestra
  • S1/2 Choir
  • Chamber Choir
  • Intermediate Jazz Band
  • Senior Jazz bands.

There were also two soloists, Grace H (piano) and Ella S (cello) - both recent winners of the RGC Young Musician of the Year.

It was a fabulous evening of music in a wide variety of styles that delighted the large and appreciative audience and also raised funds for two local charities: The Archie Foundation and Music4U.

Mr Haggart, Head of Music, said: “It has been wonderful to see the way that all the performers have worked so hard with their teachers and enjoyed making music together again. The fantastic performances tonight are a tribute to everyone’s resilience and determination, as well as their musical abilities. After the past two and a half years it is a real pleasure to perform for a live audience again. The interaction between performers and their audience is a vital part of music that was taken away during the pandemic. It is really great to have that back.”
