After a fantastic performance at the national finals, the RGC Boys’ Under-14 tennis team have been crowned Scottish Schools Champions.

Playing at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre in Edinburgh, Jesse, Lucas, Nicholas, Alex and Baxter faced Hutchesons’ Grammar School in the final. Rising to the occasion, the boys won the tie five matches to one. Their success is the result of hard work, teamwork and determination throughout the season. Later this year, the team will travel to Newcastle to represent Scotland, with potential opponents including Durham Johnston and Royal Grammar School.

Team member Alex said: “I was nervous but mostly excited leading up to the match because of the opportunity to play in England. As I was playing I tried not to think about what would happen if we won and I tried to focus on the next point and the person I was playing. When I found out we had won I was very happy and now I can’t wait for the next round.”

Mr Buckley, Tennis Coach, added: “I’m so delighted that this boys under 14 team has managed to win the National Tennis final. They have worked really hard on their tennis skills in their Sport classes and also in the co curricular performance sessions.”
