David Dalgarno, former pupil from the Class of ‘76 and Chair of the US Development Committee, hosted the third webinar in the RGC Impact Series last night celebrating the achievements of members of the Gordonian Community who make a positive impact on the world.

Spanning three continents, David led the conversation from Boston and was joined by Alan Main, Class of ‘81 who was in Cape Town and Jamie Gilbert, Class of ‘04 who joined us from London. Alan, Board Member and Advisor for the impact investment platform Bamboo Capital Partners, talked about the establishment of the HEAL Fund which deploys capital into early-stage medtech companies, digital health solutions and other service providers that have the potential to improve access to healthcare. Jamie, Principal at TPG Global, shared his experience of investing in energy and transport infrastructure in Sub-Saharan Africa.

During the webinar Alan explained, "This is the beginning of the growth of impact investment. Companies are now focused on environmental, social and governance credentials.  It is no longer just about making money and creating wealth. Younger people want to see their money working not just as a return on their investment but also in terms of social impact by improving the lives of others."
