Our S3 German pupils were greeted by smiles, waves, flags, and name signs as their German exchange partners welcomed them off the aeroplane at Bremen Airport.
The exchange programme started with a welcome breakfast at Gymnasium Langen, followed by a visit to Das Auswandererhaus where pupils experienced the German emigration process through interactive exhibits.
The pupils also had the opportunity to visit Wattenmeer, where they walked and played games on mudflats while learning about the ecosystem. After a 25km cycle from Langen to Wremen, more games and activities were enjoyed a picnic, which provided a great opportunity for the pupils to get to know their exchange partners better.
Throughout their stay, our S3 pupils completely immersed themselves in the German language and culture, staying with host families while attending school classes with their exchange partners.
Mrs Eadon, Teacher of Languages, shared: “Having our pupils participate in this exchange teaches them so many valuable life skills, as well as improving their German, making new friends and being a fantastic experience for them. We are now looking forward to our German friends’ return visit to Aberdeen in September.”
