From practising French in the streets of Paris to playing sports and visiting iconic landmarks, S3 pupils soaked up the culture and made lasting memories during their French exchange. Sofia H-A (S3) shares a glimpse of their exciting adventure and what they’re most looking forward to when they host their French exchange partners in Aberdeen this May!

Our exchange trip to Paris was truly an unforgettable experience, offering us the incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in both the language and the vibrant culture of France. The exchange allowed us to meet new people, forge meaningful connections, and expand our global perspective. Whether at the dinner table or while exploring Paris, the constant opportunity to speak French helped us to broaden our vocabulary, improve our fluency and enhance our understanding of the language.

During our week in Paris, we took part in various sports such as orienteering, rugby, volleyball and dodgeball, and we were lucky enough to visit the prestigious Racing 92 training ground and facilities. On Saturday evening, we were hosted at the Racing 92 clubhouse where we enjoyed cheering on Scotland in their final Six Nations match against France… but we won’t talk about the final score!! This exchange was everything we imagined and more.

The city’s blend of historic charm and modern energy left us in complete awe. Visiting iconic destinations like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre, we were immersed in the heart of Paris, making the most of every minute. This extraordinary journey enriched our understanding of a dynamic, inspiring culture, leaving us with memories and friendships that will be cherished forever.

We look forward to hosting our French exchange partners in Aberdeen in May!
