“Do you know where your food comes from? Is it possible to do too much exercise? How many hours of sleep do you get at night?”. These are just some of the questions posed to our S3 Latin and Greek pupils by Professor John Wilkins.

Held at St Margaret's School for Girls, the pupils spent the afternoon exploring the ideas of the 2nd century AD physician and medical researcher Galen.

Dr Alexander, Teacher of Classics, shared: “It was a fantastic opportunity to have Professor John Wilkins sharing his expertise with hands-on sessions, including sampling of a range of foods and discussion in groups between the RGC and St Margaret’s Classicists.  Everyone agreed that it was very interesting to learn about ancient medicine, an aspect of the Greco-Roman world that we rarely get the opportunity to focus on.”
