Pupils in National 5 Biology have been exploring Genetic Engineering this week. In order to consolidate their understanding of the process involved they have made stop motion movies of human genes being inserted into a plasmid and then into bacterial cells.

Mrs Willets comments: "This type of consolidation work is a great way to allow pupils to demonstrate their digital skills whilst furthering their understanding of a key biological concept.”

Videos shown below are filmed by S3 pupils Kaden and Lottie, and Sabeen and Zara who then edited them to produce a short stop motion sequence.

Kaden says: “It was an enjoyable way to learn about Bacteria."

Zara adds: “Editing the movie allowed us to explore the creative aspect of Science.”
