The S6 Prizegiving and Graduation Ceremony was an afternoon filled with celebration, reflection, and well-deserved recognition.
Held in the Aberdeen Music Hall, the year group were joined by their families, staff, and fellow pupils as each pupil crossed the stage to receive their awards and certificates, cheered on by proud family members and staff.
This year, the end of year address was given by Andy Lowden, Chief Financial Officer, who is retiring from the College this summer. Speaking to the S6 cohort, he said: “My first nugget for you, the Class of 25, is, before you part with good friends or teachers today, tell them how you feel about them and agree to keep in touch, and do it. And either today, or at an appropriate time soon, speak to your family who have supported you on the journey so far about your experience, and what it has meant to you.
“Whether you know exactly where you're headed or are still figuring it out, take this message with you - who you are and how you conduct yourself, matters just as much as what you do. Stay kind, look out for others, stay curious, act with integrity, put back and be philanthropic in the years ahead, definitely maintain a good sense of humour, and as an accountant, I am duty-bound to remind you to balance your personal or family income and expenditure budget. Make the most of your summer to spend time with family and friends and pick up some work experience. If you move away, I have been asked by some mums, dads and, wider family to point out there is no need to be grateful for the opportunity because they love you, but please please keep in touch and don’t just treat us as a laundry or a bank, and for those of you passing your test, please drive with care.”
After many emotional goodbyes (and more than a few proud tears!), our S6 cohort and their families returned to the College for refreshments, ice creams, and farewells with friends and staff. It was a wonderful opportunity to share memories, express gratitude, and celebrate the strong bonds built over their years together.
