This week sees the return of Safer Internet Week to Robert Gordon’s College and the focus this year is “Fake News”.
Headlined by the theme of “An internet we can trust: exploring reliability in an online world”, the goal this year is to highlight how misinformation can be accessed and shared online.
A dedicated Safer Internet Week page has been created on the pupil intranet filled with resources to help build awareness about this year’s topic along with other useful information and tools. Pupils can access resources to help them understand what is fake news, which sources to trust along with a look to news shared by targeted advertising and influencers on social media.
As part of the awareness week, pupils in S1-S6 are invited to create their own posters reflecting how to make the internet more trustworthy. In addition, each day this week has a “Big Question” for pupils to discuss with classmates and gain a better understanding of the wide reaching impacts of the subject.
Pupils can access all of the online resources and competition details via the pupil intranet here.
