This week, our Primary 7 Show Club pupils transported their audience to the perfect town of Duloc for Shrek The Musical Jr.

Held in MacRobert Hall across two evenings, the production had the pupils wowing their audience with fabulous background projections, captivating musical numbers and lots of laughter. The stage cast were joined by some of their Senior School peers, who provided music as part of a small orchestra alongside Mrs Constable. They also provided assistance backstage.

Mrs Rose, Teacher of Junior School Drama said: “This show is a great adventure and we have had lots of fun exploring the wacky characters and plot line! The characterisation is really amusing and the audience should enjoy being whisked off to the fantastical world of Shrek, his noble steed and their mission to Duloc! As our first, full scale, post covid production this one has been momentous and I am incredibly proud of each and every member of my cast. I hope they fully experience the joyful buzz of live theatre and that the memories of this adventure together remain with them for many years to come!”

Mrs Webb, Head of Junior School shared: “Yet again our children demonstrated their skills and abilities in this fun musical production.  The children have worked over the course of the year at Show Club and this performance.is the culmination of weeks of work.  The dedication and resilience of our children really shone through.  A huge well done to all our pupils and a thank you to the help and support of the team who coordinated and supported this key event in the Primary 7 year.”

The pupils were also delighted to host a community matinee performance for primary school children in the city centre.

The story follows the tale of Shrek the ogre who travels across the land on a quest to rescue a princess from a tower and claim back his swamp from fairy-tale creatures.
