Netra and Miru are regular visitors to the science labs in the Wood Foundation Centre for Science and Technology. Leading on from their TechFest STEM Next Essay earlier this year, they are celebrating top results in their Highers and Advanced Highers.
Netra (S5) studied Biology, Chemistry and Physics in addition to Mathematics and English at Higher. She shared: "I’m very pleased with my Higher English and Maths results. Thanks to my teachers and their help over the numerous support sessions, I improved significantly in English over the past year, in spite of the steep climb that Higher English calls for. I now look forward to S6 which holds promise for many opportunities."
Progressing her Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics studies at Advanced Higher in S6, Miru commented: "Although S6 has been a busy year with numerous commitments and unique experiences, I am very pleased with my SQA results. With the return of Projects last year, I finally had an opportunity to put my research skills to practice and it was an eye opening experience. This, along with my STEM Next learning, influenced my decision to pursue Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. I am truly grateful to all my teachers who have helped me along the way."
Higher Biology, Chemistry and Physics averaged a 90% A-B pass rate with Higher Mathematics seeing an impressive 91% A-B pass.
The vast majority of pupils stay on for the sixth year experience at Robert Gordon’s, and the value of this shines through in their excellent results this year; 155 pupils sat Advanced Highers with 91.6% A-C and 72.2% A-B passes.
