On Friday 11 September, young skiers from across Scotland gathered at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre for the 2026 Robert Gordon’s College School Ski Race Championships, a fantastic afternoon of competitive skiing, teamwork and sporting spirit.

The event, proudly supported by Gordon Skiers Racing Team, saw over 90 skiers from across Scotland take part in individual slalom racing before joining mixed-school teams for an exciting Dual Slalom.

Following bib collection and a warm-up on the green and white slopes, racers completed course inspection before taking to the white slope for two individual runs. The fastest of the two runs counted towards the final results, with Minis (U12) competing in a stubby slalom and U14 and older racers tackling the full slalom course.

The afternoon’s racing finished with the much-anticipated Dual Slalom, where racers from different schools and age categories were mixed into teams. With teams only revealed on the day, the knockout competition created plenty of excitement and friendly rivalry as competitors raced alongside new teammates.

Hosted by Mrs MacLeod and Mrs Melville, the championships showcased the enthusiasm and talent of young skiers from across Scotland. Throughout the afternoon, competitors supported and encouraged one another, creating a brilliant atmosphere of friendship, teamwork and sporting spirit.

Mrs MacLeod, Deputy Head of Junior School shared: “What a brilliant afternoon we had in the sunshine with ski racers from all around Scotland coming to Aberdeen.  The dual slalom event really brought the ski community together.  With team members from Under 8’s  to Under 18’s everyone worked together, supported each other and made new friends. The atmosphere was buzzing with  families and friends cheering on all the children.  A special thank you to Gordon Skiers and to the parent volunteers for making the event so successful.”

The event concluded with prize giving and a prize draw at the bottom of the white slope, bringing a memorable afternoon of school ski racing to a close. A special thank you to The British Ski Academy and Gordon Skiers for providing generous vouchers to the podium winners.

Winners in each category are as follows - U8 Robyn G and Samuel M, U10 Maisie A and Archie P-J, U12 Annabel R and Lyall P, U14 Charlotte-Dee H, and Arthur G, U16 Layla M and Oliver R, U18 Eve G and Thomas F.  Overall fastest racers Layla M and Thomas F
