In his final year at the College, Guy Broadhurst (Class of ‘18) was awarded the Michael McLeod Trophy for all round sports performance. The annual award is given to a pupil who has achieved sporting excellence in more than one activity, while representing the College. At this stage in school Guy was swimming, playing rugby and represented the College in water polo, which was a new sport for the College at this time.

Since leaving school, Guy has represented Scotland at various levels and is now at a senior level participating with the Scotland team who beat Wales 20-9 where Guy scored the first goal of the game. Guy also plays for his club (Portobello) and university water polo for The University of Edinburgh alongside other former pupils.

Craig Harper, Head of Sport said: “Guy was always a hard working and talented pupil and not just in the pool, which made him a worthy recipient of the Michael McLeod all rounder prize in his final year at Gordon’s. What is especially pleasing to see is that Guy has taken his talents in swimming and put them to good use in a different activity that has given him an opportunity to represent his country and gain experience of a high performance international sport. I am excited to follow Guy’s progress and wish him all the very best."

Congratulations to Guy on his first senior cap!
