Our Universities and Careers Department was delighted to welcome former pupil and renowned psychiatrist, and TV personality Dr Tharaka Gunarathne, Class of 2000, for an engaging SuperLearner webinar, where families from Robert Gordon’s College enjoyed an early preview of his upcoming learning and wellbeing series.

Dr Tharaka, known for his dynamic and accessible approach to mental health and education, delivered a compelling talk on how cognitive science can improve academic performance and support personal development. He shared: “I was delighted to join around 150 participants for SuperLearner, hosted by the very school I went to - Robert Gordon’s College. We covered how we can blend brain science, memory training and study hacks to get the academic edge in today’s world! A great way to unlock potential, decrease exam stress and boost lifelong learning.”

Miss Braid, Universities & Careers Assistant, commented: “The SuperLearner session was a wonderful addition to our ongoing commitment to promoting cognitive wellbeing and developing a love for lifelong learning across the College. In an increasingly fast-paced and digital world, it’s important that families feel equipped to support their children’s focus and resilience. He also launched his new summer programme for children aged 9-15 who would like to enhance their memory and focus skills.

“It was fantastic to see such enthusiastic engagement from both pupils and parents. The session offered practical, research-informed strategies, and Dr Tharaka’s relatable approach really resonated with our young learners.”

One parent reflected: “The session was fascinating. Dr Tharaka explained things in such a clear and engaging way which really helped us see how small, consistent changes can make a big difference to our child’s focus and study habits.”
