Our 2024-2025 S3 and S4 Art and Design pupils had the wonderful opportunity to take part in The Ripple Effect - a community artwork project raising awareness of organ donation.

Working alongside glass artist Shelagh Swanson and Dr Paul Gamble from the NHS Grampian Organ and Tissue Donation Committee, pupils explored the power of creativity in supporting an important cause.

Mrs Charlton, Principal Teacher of Art and Design, said: “We are delighted to be one of thirteen schools in Grampian participating in this community project. Our pupils each designed two fused glass pebbles, which together form a beautiful and meaningful installation. One of the pieces is included in the main memorial at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, alongside contributions from donor families and you people across Grampian. The second piece forms part of the ripple in the Auld Hoose foyer. It is wonderful to have it on display in the heart of our campus, where it can be enjoyed by the school community and visitors to the College.

“We would like to thank Shelagh and Paul for sharing their expertise and inspiring our young artists through this impactful project. Our pupils enjoyed building on their classroom skills to help bring this to life, raising awareness and recognising the difference that organ donation can make.”
