S2 pupils participated in an interactive talk with Simon Watt, a science communicator and presenter on Friday 27th September. Simon encouraged S2 pupils to appreciate the wonder of all life, even if it is not always cute and furry.

Mr Bristow said: "Mr Watt presented with passion, giving the pupils an insight into the fascinating lives of creatures such as the flightless dung beetle, pig-nosed frog, giant weta, blobfish, hagfish and many more. The hour flew by very quickly as pupils learnt about wider biological concepts such as conservation, classification and evolution while simultaneously being entertained by a series of audience-participation contests and a range of video clips. We are grateful for the organisers of TechFest for making this opportunity available to us and I’m sure it will have inspired pupils to find out more about some of our less well known ‘cousins’ on Planet Earth."
