Before the summer break, pupils across Nursery and Junior School were set the challenge to create designs to decorate a mini lighthouse for the Little Lights Education Programme.

Due to the high calibre of submissions, a selection of designs have been combined to create an ‘Ultimate Lighthouse’. Well done to Rana (Nursery), Noah (P2), Andrew (P3), Nina (P4), Chiara (P5), Austin (P6), Georgia and Brooke (P7) who all had their designs chosen.

Mr Rencontre, Teacher of Art and Design said: “Our pupils wanted to design a lighthouse that was really bright, vibrant and colourful. There were so many good designs submitted by the pupils across Nursery and Junior School that it was too hard to choose an overall winner. Instead, we decided to have a winner from each Junior year group.

“Each tier represents a year group culminating in a collaboration at the very top. Our pupils hope that their Lighthouse will cheer up even the dullest of days!”

The Little Lights programme adds to the wider activity of the Light the North which has set out a trail of colourful lighthouses across the North-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland in aid of Clan Cancer Support

The Ultimate Lighthouse can be viewed on the first floor of Aberdeen Art Gallery.
