Former pupil Victoria Melville, Class of '25, secured her place on the Scotland Gymnastics Team. Now in her first year at university, Victoria trains as an elite gymnast with Garioch Gymnastics Club. In September, she competed in the Scottish Gymnastics Classic Challenge Gold competition held in East Kilbride. Victoria delivered an outstanding performance, earning bronze overall, as well as silver medals on bars and floor.
Notably, both Victoria and her younger sister, currently a pupil at RGC, qualified for the Scotland teams for the British Finals, which took place on 24 November.
At the Finals, Victoria had a fantastic day, finishing 15th overall in a highly competitive field of 65 gymnasts. Despite a fall on beam that kept her out of the top six, she was the highest-scoring gymnast on the Scottish team. Janine Robertson, Club Manager and Victoria’s Coach at Garioch Gymnastics told us, “I’m extremely proud of the work Victoria has put in leading up to this event and her approach to the competition on the day. She was a pleasure to take round and a real asset to Team Scotland.”
Stacey Hardie, Head of S1 and former Head of PE, added: "We are hugely proud of Victoria as she continues on her gymnastics journey. Balancing the volume of training required to compete at this level along with university studies is very impressive and credit to Victoria’s hard work ethic and passion for her sport. Every year Victoria continues to add difficulty to her routines and progress further in her gymnastics. Well done, Victoria!"
Congratulations, Victoria! We are incredibly proud of your achievements.
