This week, families from across the College gathered for the first of four twilight sessions in The Craig Centre for Performing Arts.
The audience had the opportunity to hear the first hand experiences of various members of our school community; Primary 7 pupils Emily and Isla, S5 pupils Vaibhav and Anjola, school parent and clinical psychologist Dr Murewa Akintola, Support for Learning Teacher and RGC parent Mrs Oshinowo, Labour Councillor Ms Deena Tissera and College Governor Dr Olushola Ajide, who chaired the panel.
Ms Menzies, a Principal Teacher in Junior School, shared: “Our first twilight session on Race was a fantastic discussion around the importance of talking about race and teaching it explicitly, while also threading racial issues throughout our curriculum. With the help of our panellists, we explored the lived experiences within the College and why we sometimes find it difficult to talk about race. We also looked at where we currently are as a College community, what is going well and how we can do better moving forward.”
The next twilight session on neurodiversity will take place on Thursday 28 November 2024. This event is open to families and staff across the Robert Gordon's College community. Check your email inbox for the ticket reservation link.
