Robert Gordon’s College is heading to Loughborough University in June to represent Scotland at The World Schools Netball Cup.

We will field a team in the U17 age category that will compete against fellow athletes from around the globe with the ultimate aim of being named World Champions of school netball for 2025.

The event will take place between 27-29 June at the world-class netball facilities on offer at Loughborough University, and it will offer our pupils an exciting opportunity to showcase their incredible talents at an elite level.

This year will mark Robert Gordon's College’s inaugural appearance at The World Schools Netball Cup.

Our flag-bearers will represent Robert Gordon’s College in front of a raucous crowd of spectators, families, and media at an opening ceremony as The World Schools Netball Cup officially gets underway.

Three days of intense sporting action will follow as each athlete and team battles it out to be named champions of The World Schools Netball Cup 2025.

Extensive media coverage before, during, and after the event will shine a spotlight on the incredible talent exhibited at the event, and will allow audiences from far and wide to engage with the only event of its kind.

An award presentation and closing ceremony will round-off an action-packed three days of action and will allow all athletes the opportunity to come together and celebrate their collective achievements on the world stage.

After confirming our place at the event, Miss Duddy, Head of Netball, commented: “I am so excited to be fielding a talented U17 team at this event, in what is a first time outing for Robert Gordon’s College. This opportunity aligns with our ongoing efforts to promote netball excellence and plays a pivotal part in exposing our athletes to stronger opposition and competitive opportunities outside of Scotland. Our school has a strong history of supporting the development of young netball players, from playing on the school court to representing their country and pursuing a professional career.

“The squad is training hard as they prepare to compete at a world-class netball venue, eager to challenge themselves against teams from across the globe. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and hard work, and we look forward to supporting them as they showcase their skills on this prestigious stage.

“Additionally, our competitors are very much looking forward to the event in Loughborough, and are excited to test themselves against students from a multitude of different countries.

Zara, Team captain, said: “We are so excited for this event and can’t wait to compete against all the talented athletes from across the world. We look forward to working together as a team and giving it our all.”

With the inaugural event taking place in 2018, The World School Games Event Series is operated by The Twedex Group and aims to unearth the world champion of school sport.

Athletes travel from far and wide to compete across six different events, and receive an authentic elite sporting treatment - from world-leading competition venues and media coverage, to special guests of honour and grand awards ceremonies.
