The annual RGC Young Musician of the Year competition was truly an evening to remember, as six Senior School pupils showcased their outstanding musical talent to a panel of judges.
Held in The Craig Centre for Performing Arts, our S1-S3 finalists Aled, Emily and Marquis, and our S4-S6 finalists, Daniel, Finlay and Oliver’s performances displayed musical expression and technical skill in front of an appreciative audience filled with family, friends and the wider Gordon’s community.
This year’s competition was judged by Craig McDermott, Ros Coleman and James O’Neill, who faced the difficult task of selecting winners from an exceptionally high standard of performances. During the nail biting judges’ deliberation, our 2025 Young Musician of the Year, Max, performed ‘Anastasia’ by Slash.
Congratulations to Marquis who is the S1-S3 winner and Daniel who is the S4-S6 winner of this year's Young Musician of the Year.
Mrs Massie shared: “The Young Musician of the Year final 2026 was a fantastic celebration of creativity, dedication and outstanding musical talent. Every finalist should be incredibly proud of themselves and huge congratulations to our two deserving winners Marquis and Daniel on an unforgettable achievement. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to our exceptional music team for their hard work and commitment, as well as our adjudicators for giving up their time and talents to support the competition.”
As well as celebrating young musical talent, the evening also helped raise money for the charity Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, supporting the fantastic work they do for children and families across the local community.
